Nunes won the previous fight 18 months previously, before controversially pulling out late in the proposed rematch back at UFC 213 citing a nasal-based problem.
Since their previous matchup, Nunes has won and defended the bantamweight title, defeating first Ronda Rousey in comprehensive fashion before defeating Miesha Tate at UFC 200.
Shevchenko's last outing was against Julianna Pena and victory arrived via submission in the second round of her second successive headline fight.
Six months prior, Shevchenko fought Rousey's first conquerour and former bantamweight champion Holly Holm, winning the five round bout via unanimous decision.
Elsewhere, former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos looks to make further inroads on the welterweight division with a showdown with number six-ranked Neil Magny, who himself is coming off a unanimous decision win against former champion Johny Hendricks.
There is flyweight action, with second-ranked Henry Cejudo taking on number five-ranked Wilson Reis, while light heavyweights Tyson Pedro and Ilir Latifi throwdown.
First up on the main card, however, is a tasty-looking affair between hard-hitting Jeremy Stephens and Gilbert Melendez, the latter moving down to featherweight for the first time in a decade.
There is plenty of room for fireworks in this bout, one that should hopefully set up the main card and whet the appetite ahead of the main event and the preceding aforementioned matchups.
